Language learning is the most crucial area of learning in the curriculum. It is a lifelong learning process. The formal allocation and specification of timetable periods in English reflect this importance.

In the Junior School, there may be an more integrated approach to language teaching as concepts are indivisibly interrelated, but, as in the Prep Schools, concepts are also given significant individual emphasis and are taught in their own right. The teaching of English is taught under the following headings, although often there is integration between these areas:
Constructive English
Written Language
Oral Language
