 Mathematics
The aims of Mathematics teaching are:
To provide mathematical experiences which enable pupils to:
 discover patterns and relationships
 develop concepts
 draw logical conclusions
 form generalisations
 express thoughts accurately
To develop in each pupil the basic mathematical knowledge, skills and understanding necessary for daily life and for effective vocational application
To develop in each pupil a positive attitude towards Mathematics, and a continuing interest in it.
STRUCTURE
The Mathematics curriculum is founded on the following mathematical concepts which are indivisibly interrelated:
 NUMBER
 MEASUREMENT
 GEOMETRY
 ALGEBRA
 STATISTICS
Through each of these concepts runs the intrinsic purpose of Mathematics – the need to solve mathematical problems in the real world.
