Art Education

Art is fundamental to the experiences of all pupils as they use artistic ways to communicate their emotions, ideas and individuality while responding to their environment, both physical and aesthetic.

It provides an outlet for emotions and skills that is differentiated from other forms of expression such as writing and drama. For some people, Art may be one of the few ways in which they can express their real feelings and therefore it is an important aspect of education in its own right.

As Art has been a primary means for transmitting, identifying and preserving culture, it follows that all people should have access to it as a means of accessing and identifying with their own and other's cultures.
