Conditions for Learning

The ideal preparation requires these Conditions for Learning being achieved for every pupil by every teacher.

We believe that pupils learn best when they…

  • feel safe to share, make mistakes and take risks in a warm, nurturing environment;
  • have respect for themselves, and for the feelings, beliefs and opinions of others;
  • know their individual abilities are recognised and valued, and opportunities are provided for them to practise a range of learning styles;
  • understand the objectives and expectations of the learning task;
  • are motivated to learn and are held accountable for a responsible commitment to the learning task;
  • are given opportunities to be critical and reflective learners and receive feedback that promotes future learning; and
  • experience relevant and meaningful learning experiences.
