Girls' Chapel Choir

The Girls' Chapel Choir consists of about 35 selected Years 4-8 girls.
The choir sings the anthem and leads the school in the Monday Chapel service. During the year, the choir sings at the school services at the Cathedral, and at numerous special events for the school and out in the community.

Rehearsals are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 8.00-8.30am.

Membership of the Chapel Choir follows successful membership of the Girls' Training Choir and the availability of a place.

Pupils wishing to be part of the Girls' Chapel Choir should initially approach Mrs Ellis with the request to join.

Once in the Chapel Choir, choristers wear the maroon cassock and are known as 'probationers'.  Once the Choir Director is satisfied that a probationer has demonstrated sufficient ability to concentrate, punctuality to rehearsals and competence in his singing, the probationer is awarded her surplice in a ceremony in which she affirms her desire to strive for excellence in her singing and to lead the school in worship.

Choristers are also able to work through the syllabus of the RSCM Voice for Life course to earn a ribbon.  Ribbons are awarded in grades: light blue, dark blue, and red.
